Points to follow-

1. Prepare a list of 10-30 potential donors from your contacts

  1. Sort them in the order you wish to contact them. <Check out Network Mapping for an in-depth understanding of how to map your network>

  2. Always start with Family, Close friends and people who you think will give more. This will set the trend of giving to everyone else who visits your fundraiser.

<aside> 💡 WhatsApp Statuses are a hit! BUTTT!! do not post about your campaign on social media or publicly before you have raised at least 25-30% of your target.

  1. Personalise the post. Tell people why you are doing this and why it is important to you. If it's not personal to you and the potential donor, then it won’t be fruitful.

  2. Ask donors & supporters to connect with you and share your campaign with others. Especially when family members share about your efforts, their network will support you, too. People that are proud of you are the best spreaders. Mom/Dad, grandparents, relatives and friends. Give them a ready-made message with your link to spread in their groups.

  3. Send WhatsApp messages to everyone, but get on calls with as many people as possible. Ask them questions to get them to share their opinions.

  4. Review after some time to see a pattern of the type of people who gave to you and what worked and what didn't so you can alter your next steps

  5. Avoid asking people for money directly. Make it about the value they will create by donating versus treating it as a transaction.

Common Questions:

  1. Why is a PAN Card required while donating? <So the donor can claim a deduction under 80G of the Income Tax Act. “Non-Profit” is a recognised and registered Non-Profit; hence, donations to <Non-Profit> causes are 50 to 100% exempt under Income Tax Laws.>

  2. Will all the money go to ensure the cause is served? <Give a brief of how the money is utilised and the timeline of utilisation

  3. How many beneficiaries are you supporting? <Give the number of children/events/trees, etc., you are raising funds for. Knowing the unit cost and overall budget will help.>

  4. Where is <Non-Profit> present? <Give a brief about what <Non-Profit> does, focusing on the project you are reaching out for.>
